Coming soon in 2023: entertainment
The promise of new releases in the entertainment industry is on its way and students are looking forward to movies, music and more that will guide them through 2023. From “Dune: Part Two” to a second season of “Outer Banks,” many promising films and more will be making their way into the lives of teens at KHS.
Teagan Moore, sophomore, was drawn into Spider Man: Into the Spider-Verse back in 2018 when she watched it at home with her father and uncle. She said it is awe-inspiring to watch, and she is looking forward to seeing the sequel, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, in theaters later this year.
“The style, the colors [and especially] the shading is just incredible to watch,” Moore said. “As someone who’s really into art, I was truly [fascinated] with the [film].”
Liza Pettersen, sophomore, first heard about “Dune Part Two” online. As she looked through her phone, messages popped up from friends and ads interrupted her scrolling to announce the new movie that is set to release on Nov. 3, 2023.
“I really liked [‘Dune’] so as soon as I heard there was going to be a [sequel], I watched the trailer,” Pettersen said. “I’m really excited about it [because] it seems really interesting.”
Pettersen said she and her friends have similar tastes in music, so she mostly hears about new releases from them. She heard a K-Pop boy band she likes will be coming out with new music in 2023 from her friend over messages.
“Stray Kids is coming out with two albums this year,” Pettersen said. “I’m really looking forward to [it] since their [music] in 2022 was so good.”
Sarah Duncan, sophomore, is also looking forward to a new Marvel movie this year. She said that she’s really into the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and is always excited when new movies and tv shows come out.
“I’m really excited about the new Ant-Man movie,” Duncan said. “I always get excited about new movies because of the storyline and [also] it’s so [easy] to get addicted to them.”
Duncan said she’s also excited about the upcoming season of Outer Banks. Similar to MCU movies, she got into the show because of the plot.
“I started watching [Outer Banks] at the beginning of quarantine,” Duncan said. “I watched it all in one day and I just really love the show.”
