Broken phones, broken dreams:
Claire Dobbs, senior
The Kirkwood Call: How did you break your phone?
Claire Dobbs: “I’ve broken a couple different phones when I was in Spanish class when my teacher showed me my grade. I dropped my phone and it completely shattered. Yeah, I was surprised. I picked it up and I was like ‘Oh my god!’ One time I was getting up from a table and I leaned on [my phone and a corner of glass] chipped off. I was like ‘What?!’ The glass wasn’t all the way off and then it fell off at Lollapalooza.”
TKC: Why don’t you have a case on it?
CD: “I bought a Lifeproof Case but then [my phone] cracked when I had it outside the Lifeproof Case just for a moment. Yeah, I’ve just had bad luck.”
TKC: What is it like using a broken phone?
CD: “Sometimes my volume doesn’t work very well. Sometimes it’s just kind of annoying people are always like ‘Oh man what’d you do?’ ”
TKC: What were your parents’ reactions?
CD: “I had to pay for all the fixing, and my dad just kind of thinks I’m an idiot.”
