Next level
For most competitive athletes, their dream is to get to the next level. According to the NCAA, almost 8 million high school athletes compete in sports each day, many of whom are looking to continue playing at the collegiate level. However, only 7% of those athletes will go on to play in college, and less than 2% will go on to play at Division I schools. Each day, high school athletes everywhere look to defy these odds in hopes of one day finding their name on a college roster. Over the past two years, according to Corey Nesslage, athletics director, 32 KHS athletes have committed to play collegiate sports, 13 of which committed to Division I schools. At this time of year, KHS winter athletes compete to show they have what it takes to continue playing the sports they love.
