The Alumni Project

“My three years at The Kirkwood Call provided me priceless memories, friendships, and challenges I cherish to this day. There is no better education than the real world lessons you learn while being on staff at The Kirkwood Call.” -Rusty Michener, Class of 2000

The Kirkwood Call has published bold, uncensored stories for more than 100 years about student life — the highs and lows, the successes and struggles. The paper is a symbol not only of quality journalism but of tradition and community. KHS’s dedicated educators, supportive administration and committed students foster an environment where young men and women can excel at Kirkwood and beyond.

Often, The Kirkwood Call alumni return to their home at KHS. They come back with stories of college and beyond. They almost always talk about how The Call has helped them navigate college courses, summer internships and first “real” jobs. The skills learned at The Call aren’t just about the nuts and bolts of writing stories about school policies and plays and sports. Our alumni are a testament to the way coming together to produce The Call teaches life lessons in collaboration and creativity that will stay with us for many years.
