From a plethora of injuries to successes, Reagan Redmon, senior, said her involvement in sports has been a journey. She began with soccer, then took on basketball, as well as lacrosse. Once high school began, she started playing volleyball, and even picked up a season of golf. She has spent the past two years as a triathlete. However, her busy schedule and extraordinary range has not come without its consequences and difficulties.

Redmon has had an array of injuries throughout her athletic career. She dislocated her knee, which led to multiple dislocations and surgeries later on. After being injured for a year, she returned and tore her ACL twice. Redmon was told she had no chance of playing again, but she stuck with it anyway.

“Everytime I step onto the court it’s just one more step closer to my knee giving out for good,” Redmon said. “I think especially with basketball, I gave that sport everything I had left in my knee.”

Through these tough times, she said her determination has not diminished. Her teammate Carson Toomay, junior, said Redmon always brings a positive energy to the team.

“Reagan makes everyone around her smile from practice to games,” Toomay said. “Having her as a teammate is something I really enjoyed due to the person she was on and off the court.”

Her teammates across the board have high praise of her influence. Elise Arthur, junior, speaks on how Redmon’s energy affects their team as well.

“She always hypes us up, she’s full of energy,” Arthur said. “Even in practice she’s always encouraging us to play our hardest.”

Her athletic career will soon come to an end as Redmon does not plan to continue playing in college. But as this chapter ends, Redmon said she holds no regrets about her decisions to play.

“I would not be the same person without sports.” Redmon said. “Everytime anyone asks me about high school I always tell them to just try out for a sport, it has honestly been the best thing I’ve ever done.”
