VoK: Wednesday Night Lights

“The way I was born I was born tall. Lot’s of kids aren’t like me. They’re born with a disability, so anytime I can get to support them showing their strength like this I’m always there. I did the special Olympics last year, and for the past couple years”    

Coach Shelton was looking for a parent volunteer to help out and I was kinda volunteered to do that. I have been feeling, this whole week, major gratitude seeing everyone come together and share this experience. It will carry on tomorrow that [the athletes] have met each other and formed a connection with each other. The turnout is wonderful and there has been many people to help make this happen tonigh...

This is a spectacular sight to see for sure. Just seeing [KHS] give the attention to people of special needs, it’s a big moment. To put them on the field and show them as the superstars that they are. I have never seen this anywhere else with any other high school district. You guys have a good thing going on.         

It’s the best reward to see everyone's hard work paying off. Mostly we were really excited to have a big turn out. That is what we were really focusing on this year [crowd turn out]. We actually went for 43 participants to 79. I know a ton of [participants], [and] I feel so special when they run through. I know they’ve be really excited for it all week.
