Albert Pujols signed with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim for $254 million over 10 years Dec. 8. This ends Pujols 11-year stint with the Cardinals, during which he was arguably the most feared hitter in Major League Baseball. Pujols won three Most Valuable Player awards and two World Series championships with the Cardinals. Now, he will take his talents to Los Angeles, leaving many students angry, confused and nostalgic.

I feel like a new era in the cardinals has not only been made because of this trade, but by the attitudes of the fans. I have gained many opinions of the signing. It seems to be that the adults are more accepting of this, understanding Pujols, and knowing that he is a good person for his excessive charity work, that his contract couldn’t have been for greed. I look on facebook and see the statuses of my peers and see so much hateful words about him being greedy, heartless, and a dissapointment. This is not new either, whenever the cardinals blow a game, or go on a loosing streak, the youth looses faith, saying the cardinals are a mediocre team. I can’t tell you how many people I knew completely lost faith in the cardinals even before being 8 1/2 games out in late august. This isn’t the cardinal nation that I have grown up to love, and I hope my peers can see the pujols signing in a lighter view.
