Kirkwood welcomes Riverview Gardens and Normandy school districts
According to general informational meetings held for Kirkwood people, KSD has room for 176 students from Riverview Gardens and Normandy. However, this number of students could go over due to siblings of students or other circumstances.
KHS has reached a $12,367 tuition that Riverview Gardens and Normandy will have to pay for every student who comes into KSD, according to the chief financial advisor.
At the meeting, a parent of three Kirkwood Alums, suggested the idea of starting a hundred club. He donated $100 to support any students coming with lack of resources.
With many parents and teachers asking questions about tuition and the meeting of educational needs being met, Dr. Tom Williams, superintendent, consistently responded that KSD would serve each student equally.
According to Dr. Williams, there will be about 40 students in the middle schools and about 80-85 students in elementary schools.
Bus schedules have become a very big concern for the parents due to the length of time on buses, arrival, drop off and if there will be buses for extracurricular activities. According to the Tillman Elementary School staff, busing is being left up to Riverview Gardens.
