Citizens to vote on Prop A tomorrow
Voters in the Kirkwood School District will vote on Proposition A Nov. 3. Proposition A is a tax levy of $0.78 per $100 of assessed value. The proposition was approved unanimously July 20 by the Kirkwood Board of Education. Resident enrollment increased by 650 students since 2010, and KSD has not asked for an increase in operating taxes for the past 10 years.
“There are a lot of people working hard, trying to get people to come out and vote,” Dr. Michael Havener, principal, said. “A lot of those people are employees, and even more parents and community members. They need to really be thanked for the work they are doing because it’s a lot of time and they aren’t being paid for the work they’re doing. They’re doing it because they want to see Kirkwood stay great.”
“Tax Fairly”, a group opposed to the tax levy, declined an interview with TKC after several emails were sent.

The email for a quote was sent to me at 5:45 2 days before the election on a Sunday evening. Below is the text of the email.
“Hello,
One of our writers is doing a news piece on Prop A and we would like to have your group’s input. Otherwise, the anti-Prop A side of the argument may not have a quote and additional information. Can I contact you for a phone interview?”
We decided that it was too late to give a response and shared that information with Ben Cohen.
Our web site is still up and would encourage interested individuals to review the site and learn why the tax increase was defeated by a landslide.

Readers, we assume students, that are interested in understanding how high taxation and high government spending effects people would learn a great deal from the site. Ever increasing taxes, fees, College Tuition, car insurance payments, etc. make it difficult for many parents to make ends meet..
