St. Louis stay at home order Monday, KHS item pickup
Residents of St. Louis City and County will be under a mandatory stay at home order effective Monday, March 23, announced Mayor Lyda Krewson and County Executive Sam Page Saturday, March 21. Basic needs such as visits to the grocery store and the pharmacy, as well as walking in public parks, will still be allowed. Krewson also tweeted that carry out at bars and restaurants is acceptable during the stay at home order. More details will be released at a 3 p.m. press conference Saturday, March 21, and additional restrictions are still under consideration. Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker announced a statewide stay at home order 24 hours prior.
In an email sent Saturday morning, KHS administration notified families the campus will be open from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. Sunday, March 22 for essential item pickup. Essential items are classified as: prescription medication, eyeglasses and equipment to complete assigned schoolwork such as a musical instrument or personal device.
The email outlines instructions to arrive at the main office only and within the time range assigned to each grade level, which are listed at the bottom of the page. Only one person or family will be allowed in the building at a time, and must leave campus as soon as they have picked up their essential items.
Families should not come if they have traveled in the last 14 days to: an area flagged as Level 3 Travel Health Notice by the CDC; a community with sustained COVID-19 spread; a cruise ship; or if they have shown symptoms of the virus. Families should email the appropriate grade level principal if they have an essential item at school but cannot pick it up.
The district will be closed until April 6, including facilities such as the athletic fields, Lyons Stadium, indoor gym and playgrounds.
Essential item retrieval schedule for Sunday, March 22:
- 9TH GRADE: 9:00 – 10:30
- 10TH GRADE: 10:30 – 12:00
- 11TH GRADE: 12:00 – 1:30
