Breaking News: Coronavirus in Kirkwood
A fourth grade student at Keysor Elementary was diagnosed with COVID-19 on Friday, March 27. After returning from a trip to London over spring break, the student developed a 100.9-degree fever for over 24 hours, which led the family to get tested at the Chesterfield Mercy drive-through clinic. The student’s sister, KHS junior, said the family is taking precautions to prevent the virus from spreading.
“We’ve been in isolation for over a week and will be for another week,” the junior said. “[Although only my sibling was tested], we were told to act [as] we have it but no one else at home has [severe] symptoms. Our family is choosing not to panic, play it safe and find creative ways to have fun together at home. I miss hanging out with my friends the most but [am] looking forward to being with them when this is all over.”

I’m very sorry to hear that this student has COVID-19 and I’m relieved to hear that their family is taking the proper precautions and acting responsibly. Since the virus is now spreading in the community, Everyone needs to assume that they have been exposed and might have it, so every family should be behaving the same way as this family. None of us should be spending time with people outside of our own family. It’s the only way we can protect others in our community.
