Since Nov. 19, local businesses in Kirkwood have facilitated the annual Kirkwood v. Webster Chili Bowl by adding chili to their menus. This year the Chili Bowl was modified from taking place at the annual Turkey Day game to after Thanksgiving, and social distancing precautions have been introduced. According to Michelle Whitson, Chili Bowl organizer, it is our turn to support these local businesses.

Whitson said, in spite of the COVID-19 pandemic, businesses in Kirkwood are alive and thriving, and she wants to help them in any way possible. She believes the Chili Bowl will bring more consumers into the businesses and hopefully people will purchase more than just chili.

This Friday, Nov. 27, Webster Groves High School (WGHS) will host the annual Chili Bowl in the Webster Commons. Since this year’s Turkey Day football game would have taken place at WGHS, they will choose three judges while Kirkwood chooses two.

Chili may be purchased from the Kirkwood businesses until Wednesday, Nov. 25. There will also be two raffle prizes for anyone who makes a donation to the KSD Foundation, announced on the Chili Bowl’s website.
