During the last month before each semester of school comes to a close, the atmosphere changes from monotony to anticipation as vacation looms nearer. Finals are the only obstacle in the way of huge sighs of relief signaling it’s vacation time.
So here’s the main thing to know about those pesky finals: the more you stress about them, the harder they seem. Take that acrostic you always see on Facebook and Twitter of the word “finals” – you know, the one that says you never actually learned this stuff, and how you basically have to relearn the entire semester then? Well, the key to avoiding this fate is as simple as preparing for them beforehand.
During the entire semester before finals, take detailed notes at all times. Don’t forget to keep them organized, so when going back to study you know exactly where those notes are from that algebra lesson one month ago.
Although catching the new “Awkward.” episode may seem more important than studying those annoyingly long chemistry notes, do not procrastinate. The longer studying is put off, the harder it’s going to be to review the information. Just because it’s freshman year does not mean those exams are going to be any easier than future finals.
And finally, although some of the teachers may seem scary, don’t be afraid to ask questions while reviewing. At KHS there is always someone there to help.
