Instagram
Stars: 5
This app is a simple way to make and share pictures with all your friends and family. Transform your own photos into works of art by choosing one of the several filtered effects or tilt-shift blur to add more life to everyday moments. It’s ability to connect and share with Facebook, Twitter and other social networks makes it easier to interact with friends as well as comment and like their photos. A downside is its ability to keep you from sleeping at night or focused during school with its addictiveness.
Google Translate
Stars: 4
Although users need internet to work this app, it is extremely useful to those who, like me, sit in Spanish class as the teacher rambles on in a language that continues to become more complex with every passing day. There are instant translations available in over 60 different languages and it allows users to listen to translations as well as read them. Check out the desktop version of Google Translate by clicking here.
Twitter
Stars: 4
Twitter presents a chronologically organized stream of tweets instantly delivering users all the media, news, events and information from those they follow. Tweets express 140 characters or a picture of what is going on at that time. Follow people you know. Follow people you don’t know. Either way it is a battery drainer. Also try the desktop version of Twitter by clicking here.
iBooks
Stars: 4
For book lovers, this app is available for users to download and read the latest – or oldest – books anytime, anywhere. Flip through pages with a simple swipe or tap and add bookmarks and notes easily. The screen brightness, text size and font are easily adjustable. The only downside is its tendency to randomly switch between landscape and portrait style, which proves reading to be a bit more difficult than usual.
