In high school, I was lucky enough to meet some great people and do some amazing things. I would like to take this time to thank them.
I want to start by thanking TKC, for all it has done for me. It hasn’t always been easy in Call, but the community built in journalism is unlike any other in the school. If you feel unsure about where you fit in at KHS, the journalism program is a great place to find it. But if journalism is not the community for you, I would ask that you find something in the school that gives you that community, as it’s the most rewarding part of high school.
I also want to thank Mock Trial for all the fun of practices and competitions. While it was tough to be at school by 9:30 on a Saturday morning and competing was quite nerve-racking, it was an amazing time and I would do it all over again (except hopefully this time with a murder case). So thank you to all the coaches who listened to me yap and Mr. Ravenscraft and Mr. Stragand for making all of it possible.
I want to thank all the teachers I’ve had at KHS. All of you are so hard-working and deserve a raise. And I want to specifically thank Mr. Rowland. I can’t quantify how amazing this man is, and how much he has done for me. For whatever reason, the moment I sat down in his classroom junior year, something just clicked and I am eternally grateful for having him as a teacher these last two years. Also, special shoutout to Mr. Pingle, who I expect to be the first teacher to three-peat Teacher of the Year.
Finally, I want to thank everyone I have ever met, spoken to and laughed with. High school has been incredibly fun, even with the pandemic and all the problems and stress this time can bring because of the people at this school. Whether I call you a friend, an acquaintance or I’ve spoken to you once, I want to thank you. As the late great Maya Angelou said, “People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.”
