Q&A opinions on Turkey Day hallways

 

Clare Hensley – sophomore

TKC: What is your opinion on the Turkey Day hallways?

“They’re fun. As long as they don’t catch on fire then it’s all good.”

 

TKC: What is the best hallway theme you have ever seen at KHS?

“I really liked the senior hallway last year [which was] Scooby-Doo. [The theme] Up was cool, and so was the band hallway until they shut it down.”

 

TKC: What is your favorite part about building the hallway?

“Participating in one of the whole grade-level activities [where] everyone gets involved is nice. We don’t meet new people, but you talk to people you wouldn’t [usually] talk to.”

 

Jacob Ayers – senior

TKC: What is your opinion on the Turkey Day hallways?

“They are beneficial for school spirit and overall pride within the classes.”

 

TKC: If you could have your own hallway, what would it be?

Back to the Future themed hallway would be pretty awesome.”

 

TKC: What is the best hallway theme you have ever seen at KHS?

“[The theme] Toy Story was pretty awesome.”

 

TKC: What is the your favorite part about building the hallway?

“Right now we are building stuff in the engineering room with wood, so that’s fun.”

 

Emily Manion – sophomore

TKC: What is your opinion on the Turkey Day hallways?

“I think [the hallways] make [people] more excited about school.”

 

TKC: If you could have your own hallway, what would it be?

“I like the Alice and Wonderland idea, I think that would be cool. Anything out of a movie that’s popular, A.K.A not The Lego Movie. I think any Disney movie would be cool.”

 

TKC: What is the best hallway theme you have ever seen at KHS?

“The sophomore’s last year, the movie Up.”

 

TKC: What is the your favorite part about building the hallway?

“I like the fact that when you’re building, the other grades are there too, and you’re kind of trying to sneak around and see who has what and what other people are doing, and [I like] the before and after effect.”

 

Matt Stoner – social studies teacher

TKC: What is your opinion on the turkey day hallways?

I think it’s a great tradition; I love it.”

 

TKC: If you could have your own hallway, what would it be?

“I think famous bands would be fun, or something to do with music.”

 

TKC: What is the best hallway theme you have ever seen at KHS?

“Usually the senior hallway is pretty impressive. Last year’s was pretty good, when they [did Scooby-Doo theme and] brought the mystery machine in the school.

 

TKC: What is your favorite part about the hallway decorations?

“I think it’s unique to Kirkwood. I like the fact that it gets done at night, and it’s gone the next day. It’s not something that hangs around for a week making everything crazy. It makes us who we are.”

 

Nikki Luckett – math teacher

TKC: What is your opinion on the turkey day hallways?

“I think it’s a great way for students to show their school spirit, and I think it can be a distraction, but I think that can be monitored. I definitely don’t think they should take it out completely, but if something is blocking the hallway or people can’t get where they need to get, then that obviously needs to change.

 

TKC: If you could have your own hallway, what would it be?

“Something that I think would be great is if [all of the hallways] had a related theme. I think it’s really hard to judge things that are completely unrelated.”

 

TKC: What is the best hallway theme you have ever seen at KHS?

“Last year the seniors did Scooby-Doo, and it was unreal. The other ones were really cool, but the seniors’ was actually like a real haunted house. It was incredible to know that students put that together.”

 

TKC: What is your favorite part about the hallway decorations?

“The creativity levels, and seeing the transformation of freshmen who don’t know what to expect, but by the time they get to sophomore year, junior year and into senior year, they realize how serious it is.”

 

Alison Wiedl – senior

TKC: What is your opinion on the turkey day hallways?

“I think they’re a fun way for your class to bond with each other, and it let’s us show off.”

 

TKC: If you could have your own hallway, what would it be?

“I would probably do a Harry Potter [theme], except the seniors did that a couple of years ago.”

 

TKC: What is the best hallway theme you have ever seen at KHS?

“The Toy Story [themed] hallway when we were sophomores, which was the junior hallway.”

 

TKC: What is the your favorite part about building the hallway?

“Getting to hang out with friends and putting stuff together. You get to be creative.”
