Photo gallery: Winter sports 2020-2021
Despite the drawbacks from COVID-19 this 2020-2021 school year, winter sports have started up and been thriving. With girls’ and boys’ basketball, girls’ swim and wrestling going on this winter, KHS students are keeping busy and working hard.
“With COVID numbers rising, I was afraid it would have an effect on our season,” Alyssa Dennis, junior and girls’ swim state champion, said. “I’m glad Kirkwood is doing everything they can to keep us safe and allow the season to continue.”
Dennis plans to have a strong season with her teammates and looks forward to seeing what they accomplish.

Mark Borella is a 1984 Kirkwood alum who owns and operates the Seeds of Happiness studio.
"A friend of mine's son was sick, and we knew he wasn't going to make it. I made a handful of these little smiles, [and gave it to the family.] I said maybe you can hold on to [them] until you get your smile back. [The family] said 'it would be very selfish if I didn't tell you to do this for other people.'"
