The first klash of the klasses took place at Kirkwood High School on October 20th, 2012. The idea behind the event was to give students a different way to spend their weekends as a safer alternative, as well as to show off class spirit. Each class competed in competitions and individuals could earn prizes such as a TV or a catered lunch for them and friends. “I thought that the event was competitive and fun. I would probably come back again next year” Calle Uerling, freshman.

"A friend of mine's son was sick, and we knew he wasn't going to make it. I made a handful of these little smiles, [and gave it to the family.] I said maybe you can hold on to [them] until you get your smile back. [The family] said 'it would be very selfish if I didn't tell you to do this for other people.'"
