KHS girls’ varsity volleyball took on Parkway West on Sept. 8 in their fifth match of the season. The team won the game in two sets, 25-23 and 25-11. In the first set, Kirkwood came back from a 7 point deficit. “We knew we could come back, we had practiced scenarios like that a lot. We just had to keep a positive attitude, shake it off and keep thinking about the next play,” said Callie Mechelke, sophomore. “Staying calm and relaxed is also a big deal in our practices, which is what you have to do when you’re down in a game.”
