Photo Gallery: boys’ varsity basketball vs. McCluer North Feb. 4
Boys’ varsity basketball played McCluer North Feb. 4 during the Block Out Cancer fundraiser. The team played an intense game, but KHS lost 71-62. Although Kirkwood lost, the game was an ultimate success for Jessie Hopper, senior, as all proceeds from the game were dedicated to cancer research in honor of her family.
“The Block Out Cancer game meant a lot to my family and I because it was a way for us to not only honor my dads memory but to raise money for a cause that has been close to our hearts ever since my dad was diagnosed with his prostate cancer,” Hopper said. “All the money is going to Pedal the Cause, which is a local nonprofit organization that donates every penny they raise to cancer research and the Siteman Cancer Center. The blue represented the color of my dads cancer ribbon and basketball was also one of his favorite sports, so it felt right to do it during the basketball games.”
