Police Beat: 4/13-4/19
On Monday, 04-13-2015, police received a report of a larceny from a vehicle located in the 700 block of Culloden. An Apple IPOD touch, purse, and gift cards were stolen from the vehicle.
On Monday, 04-13-2015, a bicycle was recovered in the 900 block of South Kirkwood. The bicycle was brought to the station awaiting the owner.
On Wednesday, 04-15-2015, officers were dispatched to a larceny from a vehicle in the 200 block of Smith Street. A coin purse and cash had been stolen from an unlocked vehicle. A short time later officers were dispatched to the 400 block of West Argonne for two additional reports of vehicle break-ins. Nothing was stolen from either vehicle.
On Thursday, 04-16-2015, police and fire department officials were dispatched to the area of Big Bend and Marjean for a report of a possible pedestrian struck. Both fire officials and police arrived and located one adult male unresponsive at the scene. The male, who was driving a scooter, left the roadway and struck a telephone pole. He was transported to a local hospital where he died. Investigation determined that only the scooter as involved in the accident.
On Friday, 04-17-2015, an employee of a business located in the 900 block of South Kirkwood Road reported a theft to police. Cash was stolen from the register at the business sometime during the day.
On Friday, 04-17-2015, police responded to the 400 block of Alsobrook for a report of shots fired. Officers arrived and located one dwelling and a vehicle parked at a residence with bullet holes. Several small caliber shell casings were located. No one was injured. The investigation is being handled by the detective bureau.
On Saturday 4-18-2015, police responded to the 500 block of Goethe and 400 block of Wilcox for destruction of property reports. In each case the victim’s cars had been scratched, presumably from a key.
On Saturday, 04-18-2015, a handgun was reported stolen to police in the 400 block of Saratoga. The gun was stolen from a vehicle parked in the area.
Kirkwood Police arrested four adults for shoplifting merchandise from an area business located in the 1200 block of South Kirkwood Road from Monday, 04-13-2015, through Sunday, 04-19-2015. Three of the cases were referred to municipal court. The other was referred to St Louis Prosecuting Attorney’s office for felony stealing since the suspect had at least two prior stealing-related convictions.
