Kirkwood defeated the Holt Indians 19-14 Nov. 3 to move on to the next round of the playoffs.
The Pioneers scored all 19 of its points in the first half, including seven from a diving touchdown catch. Late in the fourth quarter, Holt threatened to score a touchdown. However, the Pioneers came up with a crucial defensive stop to ensure the 19-14 victory.
The Pioneers are one of sixteen remaining teams in the running to win the state championship. They will take on Fort Zumwalt East Nov. 8 at 7 p.m. on the turf. Fort Zumwalt East has a record of 9-0, and it had a first round bye in the playoffs.

It was a great game. To add it was Kendall Day with that amazing diving grab. However we must not underestimate Fort Zumwalt East who have won all of their games against teams precieved to be weak. To win Kirkwood must play with the intensity of Pittsburgh Steelers fashion instead of acting like the current Dallas Cowboys. Cheer for whoever starts tonight, and if its Sam Y. don’t put too much pressure on him because he already is sorrounding a QB controversy similar to the Philadelphia Eagles Michael Vick and Kevin Kolb. But good luck to them and the rest of the team for their in for a showdown.
