The boys’ varsity volleyball team took second at the state tournament Friday May 20. The Vianney Griffins won the game and their second consecutive state championship.
After the Pioneers won the first game 25-21, Vianney responded by taking the second game 26-24. In the third game, Kirkwood took its first lead when the score was 20-19, but the Griffins answered with a 6-2 run for the victory.
The Pioneers were presented with their individual medals and team trophy following the match. They finished the season with a record of 19-6.
