While some men express their love for football by crushing bones on the field, other football fanatics tackle opposing players over the internet.
Fantasy sports have taken the nation by storm. Fans of all sports can play with the fantasy games from baseball to tennis, but football is king.
Fantasy football is everywhere. It can be played on ESPN.com, Yahoo.com and NFL.com. That does not even include all the hard core fans who draft and keep their scores with a pencil and a pad.
The rules are rather simple. In standard leagues the participants take turns drafting their lineups of NFL players. Each player must then decide from their roster who will be their starters. Starters are composed of a quarterback, two running backs, two receivers, a tight end, defense, kicker and flex (an extra player who can be either a running back or a receiver).
Each team also has a bench of extra players. Teams then mix and match their players placing them into their starting lineups. Points gained are determined by yards, field goals and touchdowns. Interceptions and fumbles render a loss in points. Each league does have the chance to customize the scoring system if the players so choose.
Fantasy football is everywhere. ESPN alone offers an additional six different types of fantasy football on top of just the original. Leagues can be started by a group of friends or joined randomly with thousands of public leagues available.
Fantasy football is huge and may have even overtaken real football as America’s favorite sport.
