The daily schedule of a professional athlete is somewhat of a mystery to most sports fans. An average Wednesday or Thursday for St. Louis Rams’ tight end and KHS 2006 graduate Mike McNeill looks like this:
6:45 am – Wake up, freshen up
7:15 am – Arrive at the Rams’ practice facility (Russell Training Facility in Bridgeton, MO)
7:45 am – Special teams meeting
8:30 am to 10 am – Offense meeting
“We install [our offense] for the week based on our opponent. [We work on] passes, runs and analyze their defense.” McNeill said.
10 am to 10:30 am – Meet with rest of position (tight ends) and discuss details for the week
10:45 am – Walk throughs for special team and offense, discuss how they will approach the next game
11:50 am – First stretch for practice
1:45 to 2:00 pm – Practice ends, lift weights if haven’t already
2:00 pm to 3:00 pm – Off time, lunch
“For lunch it varies on what our nutritionist cooks or who he has cater for us.” McNeill said.
3:15 pm – Back to meetings
4:00 pm – Done for the day
Around 7:00 pm – Dinner
“For dinner I like any home cooked meal from my mom,” McNeill said. “Especially her chicken and rice casserole.”
Around 11:30 pm to 12:00 am – Fall asleep
