This week in sports: 11/23-11/30/14
11/24:
Hockey overcame a 2-0 deficit to defeat Lafayette 3-2 . Jake Siegel (junior), Kole Mudra (senior) and Landon Fuller (freshman) scored to give the Pioneers the edge over the Lancers.
11/27:
Team 116 concluded their 2014 campaign with a 27-6 Turkey Day victory against Webster. Jamahl Scott, junior, ran back the opening kickoff 83 yards to the house atop the mushy surface. Later, Jerod Alton, junior, knifed through the Statesmen D for a 49 yard touchdown to put KHS up 14-0 at the half. Alton found the end zone twice more, with a 28 yard run in the third and a 34 yard reception from Wil Hadler, senior. The Pioneers’ 27-6 victory allows them to keep the Frisco Bell for a second year, beating Webster by a combined score of 71-6 in that span.
11/28:
Just as they had the day before, KHS soundly destroyed Webster, this time on the rink, by a score of 9-2. Mikey Mattingly, sophomore, started the shellacking, followed by a nipe from JP Postal, junior. Webster cut the deficit in half with a goal of their own to conclude the first period. Two from Mudra, another from Postal, paired with goals from Luke McNab (senior) and Tanner Drake (junior) put the ‘Neers up 7-1 at the end of two. Completing his hatty, Mudra added another in the third, as did Postal (and Webster) to secure the W.
