The Kirkwood Call online is introducing a new weekly spotlight feature. Each week, we will write about a student or a teacher at Kirkwood. If the profile is about a teacher, that teacher will pick a student for the next week. If the profile is about a student, that student will pick a teacher for the next week, and so on. The spotlight feature kicks off with an English teacher, Melissa Adams.
One can seldom walk down the English hallway without seeing Karen Ambuehl, English teacher, accompanied by her BFF, fellow English teacher Melissa Adams. Since Adams began her teaching career at KHS nine years ago, her energetic attitude has given a peppy quality to her teaching.
Adams’ most embarrassing moment was when she tripped down a flight of stairs in front of her second hour freshman English class.
”They just stared at me wide-eyed, and their jaws dropped. They didn’t know what to do,” she said. “I was like, ‘I’ve got this, no problem.’ I just tried to finesse it.”
