Bridget Sheridan, sophomore, has been a swimmer year round since second grade, but as a freshman she found a new passion.
Sheridan began running for the KHS cross country team last season because she wanted to get in better shape for swimming, but cross country has quickly become much more than just a workout to her.
She became a varsity runner for the team last year and has managed to maintain her spot ever since. Each varsity spot is based on performance from the previous competition so there can be a lot of changes in which runners run for which level.
“There’s a lot of pressure to do your best so you don’t get bumped down,” Sheridan said
Sheridan won the Jackson competition this year September 1, but she contends that her favorite moment as a runner was last season when the team made it to state.
Sheridan does more for the school then just fall cross country and winter swimming. She also does track and field in the spring.
Because she does more than one sport, her evenings find themselves quite full.
“Cross country and swimming practices both go pretty late then I have homework,” Sheridan said. “But its all worth it.”
Sheridan is unsure what she wants to do after high school. She wants to pursue either swimming or running in college, but for now she is keeping her focus on the cross country season.
“I love the people,” Sheridan said. “I love the environment, pushing myself and just running.”
