7. Jay-Z – Multiple projects Jay-Z doesn’t have to drop another solo album. He could go into early retirement, focus on his new daughter, his wife, and the recently relocated Brooklyn Nets (he played a significant role in the team’s rebranding). After all, he just finished a massively successful international tour for Watch The Throne, which must have been exhausting. But if we had to take guess, chances are a new solo record is just around the corner. It has been more than three years since Jay’s last one-man show The Blueprint 3 (not counting last year’s Live In Brooklyn), a trilogy-capper which brought us one of Hov’s greatest tracks ever (the Alicia Keys-assisted “Empire State of Mind”). Producer Pharrell Williams has hinted at an upcoming collaboration, and rumors have begun to arise that in addition to completing the sequel to Watch The Throne with Kanye West, Beyoncé’s husband will treat his fans even more this year. If such rumors are to be believed, it may be time for the hip-hop world to prepare for the return of the King.
