“I have a very interesting laugh. It is very unique to me I have never heard anyone have a similar laugh to mine. I get a lot of compliments, and hate on it but I’ve grown to accept it and use it to my advantage.”

Samantha Hemer & Jeff Townsend

Samantha Hemer, junior
“I like to draw and play guitar. [Drawing] comes easily to me and I can express myself through it. I do mostly realism, so whatever I see. [Guitar] is also a form of expression and I have always been into music since I was little. I like everything, from motown, disco, to rock and alternative.”

Jeff Townsend, principal
“A lot of people don’t know that I love to fish. I grew up doing it and it’s a childhood love. I find the unexpected exciting. You never know what is going to happen. You never know if you’re going to not catch something, catch something small, or catch something big.”

“I like to play sports and I’m in the band. It keeps me active and I am some what good at it.

“I’ve been swimming on the Kirkwood Riptides since I was six. Its fun way to pass time and you get to meet people who enjoy swimming as well.”

Paul Knoll & Mckayla Williams

Paul Knoll, junior
“Wrestling is an interesting sport and I enjoy it. I don’t enjoy doing any other sports because I’m not that coordinated. I like the teammates, it more of an individual sport but you still get to know the teammates really well.”

“I play basketball and for an AA team called JV Lady Ballers. It’s something that is athletic and it keeps me busy.”

Angel Matthews & Joshua Morgan

Angel Matthews, senior
“Currently I am a cheerleader. Used to dance and I still enjoy dancing. I was captain of my team last year, Sapphires at Riverview, but it’s not the same as the pommies and its a total different scale and I liked cheerleading so I decided to do that instead.”

“I can usually fit into any crowd. Just give me five minutes to know how the person acts and what their strengths and weaknesses are, what they like to do and what they don’t.”

“I play many instruments like guitar, double bass, electric bass, and piano. I have been attracted to music because I grew up in a musical household. Were always listening to music and playing music.”

“I like running cross country because I like feeling successful after doing something really hard.”

Bill Gunn, history teacher
“I like being a teacher in general but [I like] being a teacher at Kirkwood. I think we have great kids and I think its a challenge everyday but it’s fun as well. Everyday is new and unique and I get to work with great people. I coach basketball, and take care of my three kids. My time is also spent being a soccer mom and driving them around in the minivan”
