Week Three: Running for the Win
This blog is based off my opinion on the game and what occured during it.
In Mizzou’s week three game against Arizona State, we saw a different kind of scoring from Mizzou than usual. Mizzou showed a more patient offense than week one and two, by scoring three rushing touchdowns to zero passig.
Mizzou showed their loss at home against Georgia was nothing to worry about. Although the Tigers were without starting quarterback, James Franklin who was injured, they still showed that they were there to win. On their first drive Andrew Baggett, kicker, hit a 46-yard field goal and gave Mizzou a three-point lead. The Tigers hard work on defense was rewarded when Corbin Berkstresser, quarterback, ran six yards for Mizzou’s first touchdown of the game. At the end of the first quarter Mizzou was up 10-0.
In the second and third quarter, we saw great running from Kendial Lawrence when he ran for a seven yard touchdown to give the Tigers a 17-0 lead. After an Arizona State touchdown, Lawrence answered again with a 1-yard touchdown giving the Tigers a 24-7 lead. Mizzou’s defense played lights out defense and only allowed the one score in the second and third quarter. Unfortunately, the lights out defense went away in the fourth quarter when the Sun Devils scored twice and brought the game to within three.
After the Sun Devils scored the second time making the score 27-24 the defense went lights out and shut down Arizona State’s offense allowing Mizzou to win their second game of the season by a score of 27-24. Overall, the game was controlled by Mizzou’s defense shutting down the Sun Devils on key drives near the end of the game. With this the Tigers carry a lot of momentum into next week’s game at home at 2:30 versus number nine South Carolina. Until then Miz-zou.

Well done, but the Tigers have no chance against a real team like the Fighting Irish.
