Week Four: Bounce Back Win vs. UCF
This blog is based off my opinion on the game and what occured during it.
What can I say, I liked what I saw from Mizzou this past Saturday versus the Central Florida Knights. I saw a team that was able to bounce back from a terrible loss versus South Carolina and come out ready to win. It wasn’t the most explosive game that came from Mizzou, but it was a good one. I really enjoyed getting a look at the Tigers future star wide receiver Dorial Green-Beckham during the game. There were some low points in the game, but overall I take it as a strong win for the team improving their record to 3-2. Let’s recap the big points in the game.
On their first drive of the second, Mizzou looked ready to go when James Franklin, quarterback, threw an 80-yard touchdown pass to Green-Beckham on the first play of the drive giving Mizzou a 7-3 lead. I loved to see Green-Beckham’s explosiveness and tackle shedding on the catch. Jeremy Maclin, former Tigers star, even tweeted about the touchdown: “Congrats DGB first college TD….many more to come,” @jmac_18 tweeted.
Mizzou’s defense allowed the Knights to score their first drive of the second quarter, making the score 10-7. In the third quarter, Marcus Murphy took a punt 66 yards for a touchdown giving Mizzou the lead 14-10. The third quarter was a strong one for the Knights, but way better for the Tigers. The third quarter showed that Mizzou’s special teams players were in it and were ready to help Mizzou win. The fourth quarter is when it got scary.
Mizzou scored quickly with Kendial Lawrence running 10 yards for a touchdown, giving the Tigers a comfortable 21-10 lead with nine minutes left in the game. The lead was shredded back to five when the Knights scored with four minutes left. Mizzou was successfully able to hold onto the lead and beat the Knights 21-16. The game was well-played by Mizzou. Next week’s game against Vanderbilt should be another good one.
Until then MIZ-ZOU.
