For Charlie Munroe, hockey has always been a part of his life. Having a father as a hockey player, Munroe was destined to play hockey and began his journey at 2 years old with skating lessons. From there, hockey grew into something he loved and continued to gain significance in his life.

“Hockey has become a huge part of my life,” Munroe said. “It’s something I do every day and something I’ve been doing my whole life: training, working out and overall trying to get better.”

For Munroe, a 6-foot-3-inch defenseman, hockey is more than just a sport. Hockey has built him a family. When he goes out on the ice he does not just play for himself, but for his team.

“The best part of hockey is all the memories you make, meeting your teammates, and making lifelong friends from it,” Munroe said. “It’s like family because of how close you get.”

In the past few years, Munroe has locked in on the idea of playing at the next level. But, Munroe has plans other than just playing in college.

“I have always looked at it as a goal to keep working hard, getting better and moving to that next level,” Munroe said. “Playing in college is that next step, another step forward towards my overall goal which is to play professionally one day.”

Due to COVID-19, it has been difficult for scouts to access games because of safety protocols. Although unable to get the usual amount of exposure, Munroe says he continues to push towards reaching his goal.

“The choices I have made my whole life have revolved around hockey and my future goals,” Munroe said. “Now it’s all about moving up and getting to that next level.”
