Camille Baker, Class of 2018
“It’s hard to find the words to truly encapsulate how The Call and SJ impacted my life in high school and continue to have an impact. For most of high school before I joined The Call, I was blindly in search of something I didn’t realize I was looking for. I was timid, cozy in my comfort zone. Joining Call, and being a part of SJ, gave me the environment I needed to embrace my potential: potential I didn’t realize I had. SJ offered me unwavering support to grow, a space where I never had to hold back, and a slap in the face when I needed it. It provided me countless wonderful things. From 7:50 a.m. to 2:40 p.m. the Call staff was my family and SJ was home. It also left me many difficult things to ponder. I had looked around my community before, but I hadn’t truly seen my community until I was encouraged to question it. The Call pushed me to be ever-curious, and that excitement to discover, both the world and myself, will never leave me.”
